3. From on-board SPI-Flash on power-up.
These modes are selected by different FPGA mode switch settings. The mode switches are on the back-side of the PCB as shown here:below. Note if the switch is set to the left the mode bit is "0", and if the switch is set to the right the bit is set to "1". The mode bits themselves are labeled M2, M1, and M0 from top to bottom.
